I set this group up with a foolish notion that because Metropolis is an old film and at the time I found it hard to come across fellow fans that it would be small easily handled group. In the first months there was no interest really and nobody joining and now I see I was foolish in my assumption. Of course there's a lot of Metropolis fans out there!
Now there's quite alot of members here and sadly my time is waning. Not my interest however. I would like to see more happen here and the fact that nothing does is my fault. I've negelected the group. I've also horded it a bit. So I'm asking for 2 or 3 members with a small bit of time just to check in now and then and do some blogs or have a look for a few new pics to add to the galleries if they feel like it. Anything at all. I just feel bad I haven't done anything here in a long time. Metropolis deserves better I think.
Anyone interested can send me a note. Maybe a little bit about why you want a more active role here. I understand if nobody wants to. Also, I know from myself I rarely even read blogs from groups now. There's too many. Who has time?

Thanks all.

I was quite interested in the Metropolis Comic that was proposed earlier in the year. I was fully prepared to get involved in that over the summer, however nothing got started and my window of free time is practically up. It's a shame because I really could have go into that.
Projects like that are what get people interested and make groups stand out from the rest which simply accept fan works.
If you want interaction that would be a perfect start.

I know. The second page is literally just finished. Seeing as it's a voluntary thing I can't really be hassling those who volunteer to take on a page all the time to hurry up and finish it. Although I would have liked it to have gone further. Hopefully it will now the second page is done. It's a pity cuz I was looking forward to seeing what you and the others could have come up with. If you can find some free time now to do a page or collab with someone I'd be really happy but I completely understand if you don't have time. The page is here if ya wanna see it: [link]

I expect I could probably find the time to do a page. I normally manage to squeeze a lot of drawing in. I really would love to do at least one, hopefully more.
I was just saying that the time is almost over when I could take a whole day out for it. But all I need to know is whats got to be happening on the page and I could get on with it.

That page is quite exquisite by the way. I'd certainly love to be involved in a project with work of that caliber.

Well now that that page is in the gallery the follow up to that is ready to go. Maria's Love is the scene. Where Freder first sees her and the workers children. The whole scene is here in nice restored HD.

So if you wish to do it that would be great! I'm quite excited about it now that there's scenes done. I really hope I can find other people to get invovled. So far you, Rono22 and blindbanditofthesand are the only ones to show interest.

Thats a evocative scene. It will be a great challenge trying to recreate it. Obviously thats quite a long scene so how far shall I go with it?
Also are we going to be including the newly found extra footage into this project?

I might be able to get more interest for you. My uni often organises german expressionist film screenings, so there's the audience for it there. If I put a sign up at some point I could get people to join. I know there are loads of graphic designers around.

That would be great if you could get fellow fans involved!

I think we should use the new footage. Too long has it gone unseen not to include it.

I've been thinking about what'll happen when scenes go over a single page. I think the main problem with that is that if a scene takes up 1 and 1/2 pages it could get messy. Do we try stretch it to 2 pages or start the next scene on the same page? I think it would be nice to keep each scene to it's own pages to avoid confusion. That way people will know where to start and finish. So I think as long as the scenes takes up 1,2,3 or 4 pages in full it'll be ok. What I did for the first page to get an idea of it was take print screens of the vids and then made a quick mock-up in photshop to layout the page. That way you can plan what you wanna put in or leave out and what you want bigger or smaller and so on. If you want I can do up something like that again.

Oh am I allowed to use more than one page? I was thinking that I'd need two for this scene at least. I've already done what you suggested with taking screenshot of notable moments. What struck me when drafting it was that there's so much in the lingering glances that I need more than one page to capture it properly. I'm sure I can round it off to an even number so there won't be the issue you were thinking of.

When I was watching through I remembered that a lot of the titles are missing. So there is a heck of a lot of dialogue that goes unregistered. I'm not sure if it was all originally going to be titled or not. But anyway what do we do about the moments where they clearly talk but you never get told what they say. Should I use some artistic licence and create something or just go for authenticity and leave it.

If you're willing to do more than one page I'd be thrilled.

So far there hasn't really been any dialogue in the comic (not that there wasn't any in the movie, it just hasn't been put in the comic so far). I originally said if people didn't want to put in dialogue that was ok but now I'm thinking it won't make any sense if their isn't any text at all. I guess I better make the executive decision here and now and say dialogue (not necessarily traditional speech bubbles) is preferred. It'd be nice for people who've never seen the film to be able to get something from the comic and understand it.

I would be more interactive, but I'm unable to invite anyone  the permissions don't let me. I have accepted a few more submissions, but the galleries need sorting and again I don't have the proper permissions. If you could sort that out for me, then I'd be more than happy to do more
